Development at the QEII Medical Centre requires approval from the QEIIMC Trust as the Approving Authority. QEIIMC Trust approval is required before, and is separate to, any local or State Government planning approvals. Early engagement with the Trust is strongly encouraged to ensure project timelines are met.
The QEIIMC Campus development is guided by the QEIIMC Master Plan (2019) and the Design Guidelines to ensure cohesive and considered development.
Step 1: Review Lease, and consult the Master Plan and Design Guidelines
Tenants are required to review their individual lease in the first instance to understand works and development requirements relevant to your area. Tenants must then review the QEIIMC Trust Master Plan and Design Guidelines to understand the vision for Campus development. Ensure your project aligns with these principles for sustainable and cohesive community development. Consider other State and Local Government planning documents as necessary.
Step 2: Project Initiation - Contact the QEIIMC Trust
Begin by filling out the QEIIMC Trust Project Initiation form, linked below, designed to gather basic information about your project. This step ensures our first consultation is tailored specifically to your development needs, allowing us to provide guidance that aligns with your project objectives.
Legal and other documentation is required by the QEIIMC Trust at given points in the approval process. Development Application or Building License submissions to local or State agencies cannot proceed until the legal documentation has been agreed in part or full by the Trust. This may include an Access Licence and/or Agreement for Lease.
It is strongly encouraged that the applicant seek advice from the Trust at an early stage to clarify any additional legal requirements as contractors may be refused Campus access until matters are resolved.
Step 3: Project Development
Following initial consultation with the Trust, the project team must undertake stakeholder consultations from the information provided at Project Initiation. This allows for further consultation with the Trust regarding legal documentation and any contentious issues. Major developments and new builds are required to comply with the design process in the QEIIMC Master Plan and Design Guidelines. These works will require use of the Design Guidelines Checklist to prepare your application, which will then be reviewed by the Trust Architect and the QEIIMC Trust Board to ensure compliance with standards.
Step 4: Project Approval
The final approval stage consolidates all the information provided to the Trust and your application will undergo a thorough final review process. Depending on the nature of the application you may need the approval of the QEIIMC Trust Board. The Trust will advise you if additional information is required and provide updates on your application status.
The Trust's goal is to support your development projects while preserving the unique character and environmental integrity of our Campus. We look forward to collaborating with you to bring your vision to life.
